Hats for Hospice Event Raises Money for Coastal Hospice
Hats and horse racing. The two go together, especially in Maryland at the Preakness Stakes.
Hats for Hospice is an annual preakness party that raises money for Coastal Hospice.
Maureen McNeill of Coastal Hospice and Alan Merritt-Hyle from Vernon Powell Shoes joins us in the studio to tell us more about the event.
Maureen says this event is to raise money for patients who cannot afford hospice care. Money raised stays right here on Delmarva.
Alan tells us how the event works. Vernon Powell invites the community and they all start with the same hat. They decorate it however they’d like. They will display the hats at Vernon Powell for two weeks. People can stop by Vernon Powell and vote for their favorite hat with a $10 donation that goes to Coastal Hospice.
The hats then go to the event on Saturday, May 6, where they are auctioned off.
The event is Sat., May 20 at Hamilton Fox Farm in Salisbury, Md. from 4 pm-8 pm.
