After Months of Anticipation, Delmarva Fans Ready for Firefly 2016
Locals’ secret: Being from the Delmarva Peninsula has many perks.
We’re close to the beaches, have great breweries such as Dogfish Head, lots of rural country land to roam, and we’d like to think we have some of the nicest people you’d ever meet here. Another great perk is the Firefly Music Festival at The Woodlands in Dover, Del., which is not a far drive at all for us on Delmarva.
We talked to some local festival-goers who have been waiting months for this year’s festival. Some have been going to Firefly since it started in 2012, while others are attending for their first time.
Jeremy Collins from Laurel, Del.
This is my first year at Firefly. The bands I really want to see are Two Door Cinema Club, Powers, Of Monsters & Men, Earth Wind & Fire, and Mumford & Sons. I am not camping, but I am staying with my brother in Dover. I kinda wish I did camp though. Other than the bands, I am excited for the people I will meet, the local vendors and taking in the “hipster experience” of relaxing and enjoying life.
Frankie Zoe Leinbach from Milford, Del.
I went to the first one (2012) and have gone every year since then, except for last year. This year I’m most excited about Florence + the Machine. I have camped before but I am not camping this time. I’m excited about the festival atmosphere in general, but especially the food! Every year they add more variety and there are always tons of vegetarian options.
Hailey Spicer Parks from Seaford, Del.
This is my first year at Firefly. I am most excited about A$AP ROCKY, GNASH and DEADMAU5. I’m most excited about the silent disco. I love to sing and dance along to my own favorite songs and this way I can do so along with tons of other people and when you take the head phones off you hear everyone singing along and dancing to different songs!
