With ten miles of beautiful beach, it’s no wonder that millions of people make their way to Ocean City each summer.
Keeping all those people safe is a job the Ocean City Beach Patrol takes very seriously, but for the nearly 130 lifeguards that are assigned to 76 stands along the beach, the job is about more than keeping a close eye on the water. OCBP Capt. Butch Arbin stops by to give us a better understanding of a lifeguard’s duties. He’ll also give us a lesson on what it means when lifeguards wave flags at each other down the beach.
