Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition ‘Annual Lights of Life Gala’ Preview
We are so humbled when we have people join us in the studio and share what they’re going through as they battle cancer or some other disease.
What we learn is that each of these people has an incredible support system. Organization that are there every step of the way to help those people are amazing, but they can’t do it without community support. That’s where you come in!
Connie Holdbridge, program manager of education and survivorship with the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, joins us today. Connie tells us about the different programs they offer.
They do one-on-one peer mentoring where newly diagnosed people can chat with someone who has been through the treatments or surgeries before and are a part of Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. It gives them someone to talk to or ask questions to that have been where they are.
The young survivors in action program is for survivors that are under 45-years-old. Connie says they do their support through social media.
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition couldn’t run these programs by themselves and that’s where the community comes in. Their upcoming fundraiser event is the Annual Lights of Life Gala. The event is Sat., Feb. 24 from 6 pm-11 pm at Dover Downs. There will be a fashion show as well and all of the models are breast cancer survivors. Purchase tickets here.
