The Historic Richard Allen School in Georgetown

The Richard Allen School, in Georgetown, was one of 80 schools built by philanthropist Pierre S. DuPont for African-American children in Delaware.

It served as the heart of the African-American community for more than half a century. Nearly 100 years after it first opened, the Richard Allen School has finally been recognized for its place in our nation’s history.
