We have some very talented student athletes here on Delmarva.
Down Under Sports has selected sophomore track and field athlete Brianna Stevenson of Wicomico High School to represent Maryland in Australia with Team USA. Brianna competes in both indoor and outdoor races. Indoor, she runs the 55 meter and 300 meter dash as well as the 4 x 100 relay. Her outdoor races include the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes and the 4 x 200 relay.
Down Under Sports features a track team comprised of the the best athletes around the United States who compete against teams from all over the world. Brianna hopes to learn from the competition she faces in Australia, as well as learn more about the sport she loves.
After completing this competition, though Brianna is young, she hopes to receive scholarships to help fund her college career and also make her more noticeable to recruiters. Brianna hopes to continue with track through her college career and has hopes of becoming an Olympian for Team USA. Besides aspirations of becoming an Olympian, Brianna would like to work for the FBI and is working towards her goals now by taking criminal justice classes at Parkside High School.
To help pay for her trip to Australia to participate in Down Under Sports, Brianna will be selling t-shirts to help raise the funds needed. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt to help support Brianna’s efforts to raise funds, you can purchase one at Market Street Inn. There is a Runner Down Under Dine and Donate Event for Brianna at Market Street Inn on March 1 from 4 pm-9 pm. Check out the event details here.
