Eighth of Ten 2016 Jefferson Award Winners: Patricia Vorus
“Self-effacing, she works many, many hours for the benefit of our area, particularly nonprofit institutions that are dependant on grants and donations,” said Susan Jackson-Stein, who nominated Vorus for a Jefferson Award.
Vorus has written numerous grants for MAC, with one totaling $733,000. Vorus also helped write a $30,000 grant for the Cavallaro & Cleary Visual Art Foundation to provide scholarships and supplies to deserving young artists on Delmarva.
Art is a passion for Vorus. She consistently volunteers at the Salisbury Zoo’s annual “Wild With Art,” an event that introduces children to nature and zoo related arts and crafts. Her diverse art taste even leads her to volunteer at the Salisbury Film Society.
It is impossible to give Vorus full credit for everything she does in just a few hundred words because her local impact is so widespread. She is a true communitarian, and an ideal Jefferson award-winner.
“Pat is one of the unsung gems of our community,” Stein said.
