Clear the Shelters
It’s kitten season, shelters are filling up fast with stray kittens, so Worcester County Humane Society is having a Summer Feline Fling event.
Adoption Coordinator at Worcester County Humane Society, Jessica Summers, brought a couple furry friends by Historic Studio D to tell us all about kitten season and the event.
“Kitten season basically starts at the onset of spring and continues all through the summer, so quite a big chunk of the year. We’ve had an influx of about 80 kittens so far, we’re also taking in mommas, such as Rita,” Summers says.
From now until the end of September, you can add any kitten or cat to your family for just $30.00, and any additional cat is free of charge!
“It’s a cool thing because cats do really well with a buddy, and with the influx of kittens and litters of kittens, if you have the opportunity take two siblings home, that’s a really great thing for them,” Summers says.
Remember, one-year-old Rita and many other momma cats like her are looking for homes too!
You can come from anywhere and participate in the event and take a new furry friend home.
Worcester County Humane Society goes even further to help older cats with their Senior to Senior program. They match older cats with older folks, anyone over 65 can adopt any cat over 8-years-old for free! If you, or anyone you know fit the age and are looking for a companion, give Worcester County Humane Society a call 410-213-0146, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or stop by at 12330 Eagles Nest Rd. Berlin, MD 21811.
Another great adoption event just ended, on July 23, shelters across the nation participated in Clear the Shelters, an event designed to connect animals in need with families. First State Animal Shelter and SPCA in Georgetown, Del., participated and waived adoption fees completely. Mark your calendars for next years event, you can find participating shelters here.
