Christmas Tree Fire Demonstration with the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company
It takes mere seconds for a happy holiday to turn into a hazard.
Christmas trees can go up in flames in the blink of an eye. We welcome team members from the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company to the studio, to give us a hands-on lesson when it comes to Christmas tree safety. It’s information that could save your life.
Jay Jester with the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company tells us that it is important to water your live Christmas tree each day. If the tree is very dry, there is more chance of a fire. Jay said we also need to be careful when choosing lights for our real trees and do not put extension cords under the carpet.
Members of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company show a demonstration of how quickly a real tree can set on fire. Jay reminds us that if a fire happens like this in your home with your Christmas tree to get out of the house immediately and do not try to put the fire out yourself.
