DAMARA’s owners, Marryann and Daniel Ramirez retired from active duty in the U.S. Air Force after serving several years at Dover Air Force Base. They are consistently a top performer for the Papa John’s Pizza franchise and were invited to the chain’s corporate headquarters in December 2015 as one of the top 15 franchisees in the country, according to the Small Business Administration.
It was that success which led the SBA naming Damara Management its 2016 Delaware Veteran-Owned Business of the Year. Marryann and Daniel were honored for their achievement at an awards dinner held in early May at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
SBA Delaware District Director John Fleming says Damara Management’s number of employees “has a definite impact on hometowns” across the state.
“The Ramirez’ military service and their continued commitment to giving back to the people of this country is something for which we, at SBA, are proud to stand up and thank them,” says Fleming. “And that is exactly what the Veteran-Owned Business of the Year title is meant to do –thank and spotlight veteran entrepreneurs, like the Ramirez’, who are such a valuable part of the small business community.”
