Baby Merrick – One Year Later Update
At just one-year-old, Baby Merrick has already fought the battle of a lifetime.
Merrick Reese Hudson was born to Kristie and Kevin Hudson on January 13, 2017 at just 25-weeks-old. Weighing in at just 1 lb. 13 oz., his entrance into the world was not an easy one. After being on a ventilator for five weeks, being treated for a hole in his heart, and having pneumonia, Kristie Hudson says, “it was a tough time,” but she was always amazed at how the community pulled together and supported her family.
Watch the DelmarvaLife interview where Kristie and Kevin stopped by Historic Studio D to share Merrick’s story in March 2017 here.
Now, Baby Merrick is a spunky one-year-old who continues getting better at his walking skills each day. Merrick weighs over 15 lbs now and is relatively healthy. As he continues to grow, the issues he faced of being premature continue to resolve. Kristie tells us that Merrick has not been sick once since coming home from the NICU.
He continues to live a happy life with his parents and we look forward to watching him continue to grow.
