Tara owns and operates Dragonwool Sheep Farm in Dover, Del. Sean recently paid the farm a visit and found out first-hand the process of turning wool into yarn takes some time. The sheep first must be sheared and the wool has to be washed several times. You then have to card the wool which is a process to gets the wool fibers going in the same direction. Now the wool is ready to be spun into yarn.
“There’s so much more to yarn than you would ever think,” Tara said.
In hopes of making her hobby self-funding, she sells wool and lambs to other farmers.
