9-year-old Emma Zajdel from Ocean City Tells Her Record Breaking Fishing Story
9-year-old Emma Zajdel from Ocean City, Md. reeled in a record breaking 94.6 pound Cobia a mile and half east of Assateague Island.
Emma talks about putting on a fishing belt and reeling in this large cobia. She said reeling in a fish that big was hard.
Ashton Clarke from Ocean City, Ashton’s dad, and Emma’s dad, Eddie, helped her bring the fish in. Maryland DNR officially announced Emma’s catch is the Maryland state record.
This fish is on the verge for being a world record for Emma’s age group which is 10-years-old and under. The current record is 48 lbs. Eddie says it could take up to a year to go through everything before conforming it is a world record.
Emma said the fish tasted good!
