6th Annual Community-Wide Celebration of Life, Wings of Hope Butterfly Release
The most important tool in fighting cancer is probably hope. There is an upcoming event that is all about hope.
The 6th Annual Community-Wide Celebration of Life, Wings of Hope Butterfly Release is Sept. 10 in Rehoboth Beach.
Linda Bowers is the development manager with Cancer Support Delaware. She says the mission of Cancer Support Delaware is to support people with cancer and their loved ones, and they try to give them hope.
Linda tells about how when she had cancer, there wasn’t any cancer support groups. She says the support groups where you can talk to people who are going through the same thing as you really helps.
The event is a celebration of life to honor and remember those who have been touched by cancer. There will be seeded butterflies with wildflowers inside for purchase to honor and remember those who have passed away from cancer. There will also be a Monarch butterfly release at noon with 250 butterflies.
The 6th Annual Community-Wide Celebration of Life, Wings of Hope Butterfly Release is a free, community-wide event for all ages. There will be thousands of paper butterflies on display and live music. There will also be activities for kids, a variety of vendors, and refreshments.
Seeded butterfly cutouts are $10 and you can release your own butterfly for $35. The event is from 10 am – 1 pm at the Medical Arts Building in Rehoboth Beach.
